The Fox & Hounds in one of just two pubs in the village of Newmillerdam. The pub is situated on the A61, conveniently opposite the main car park for Newmillerdam Country Park. Food is served every day between 12:00 and 9:30 pm - there is an early bird menu between 5 and 7 pm (Monday to Friday) whereby two meals can be purchased for £6 - this was available at the time of writing. Examples of the meals include Drunken Bull (braising steak in stout) (£5.25), Hawaiian Chicken (£5.95), 8oz Sirloin Steak (£8.20) and Vegetable Lasagna (£5.85). There were 10 specials at the time of my visit. Telephone 01924-255474 for more details. There are two quizes each week, one on Wednesday and one on Sunday, and both are free. On Sunday, there is a change to win half a gallon of beer or lager with a 9pm start. On Wednesday, the noughts and crosses quiz starts at 9:30 with the chance to win a gallon of beer or lager. As from 1st April 2000, the fully refurbished Fox & Hounds is now open (reports to follow). Been in - looks pretty much the same as before to me. Unfortunately, the old pub sign, which was used to make the navigation bar at the left of the screen has been replaced by a completely bland affair. That's progress for you!!
