Pugneys Country Park

Pugneys Country Park is situated on the A636 in between Wakefield and Junction 39 of the M1. The park was reclaimed from old quarries in the 1970's to what it is now.

People generally come to Pugneys for one of two things - either to exercise their dog (or themselves), or to participate in water sports. Kayaks, Canadian Canoes, Windsurfers, Dinghies and Pedaloes can all be hired from Pugneys. 2000 prices are as follows (all prices are per craft per one and a half hours, unless stated otherwise) :

 

Kayaks £4.90 adult, £2.50 junior
Canadian Canoes £5.90 adult, £3.00 junior
Windsurfers £5.80 adult, £3.00 junior
Single handed dinghies £6.50 adult, £3.50 junior
Other dinghies £9.00 adult, £4.60 junior
Pedaloes £1.80 adult, £1.10 junior (per half hour)
Pleasure boat trips £1.80 adult, £1.10 junior (per trip)
Fishing £1.60 adult, £1.10 junior (per day)

There is a miniature train also - the Pugneys Light Railway - which runs at Weekends and on bank holiday mondays.
